# Episode 1, daylight edition — artwork

All three environments were created with the built-in image generation tool, using the following prompts. These are conceptual photographic collages, not historical documents. The separate archival photographs keep their original credits and licenses. Live text, charts and references are HTML/SVG.

## ep1-v2-dialup.png

Use case: illustration-story.
Asset: a radically bright, sophisticated photographic editorial collage used as the entire opening environment of a longform magazine website about the early internet and American trust.
Scene: high-angle art-directed still life photographed on warm ivory paper in beautiful natural daylight. In the RIGHT HALF, a translucent ice-blue late-1990s CRT computer with a blank pale-blue screen, a cream wired keyboard, looping cables, a reflective compact disc catching an iridescent rainbow, a tiny photographic snapshot of a leafy American neighborhood, and an opened folded map. A simple cobalt-blue translucent plastic ruler and a sunflower-yellow paper corner add color. Human-scale objects, touchable, nostalgic, optimistic but intellectually interesting. Some objects are photomontaged at unusual scales with crisp cut-out edges and thin realistic shadows.
Composition: panoramic landscape 3:2; left 50% is clean, luminous warm ivory paper negative space reserved for huge live website typography. Right cluster feels spontaneous yet highly designed and spills toward lower center. All objects fully within composition except paper layers that continue beyond frame. Top-down to slight three-quarter view. Delightful analog textures, tiny imperfections, casual sophisticated magazine art direction.
Palette: warm white, sky blue, cobalt, soft butter yellow, a tiny apple-green accent. Real photography with paper-collage structure, NOT painting, not cinematic, not dystopian. Emotion: remember when this felt like possibility?
Constraints: absolutely NO letters, words, text, numbers, logos, interface text, recognizable branded marks or watermark anywhere; keys may be blank. No graphs. No fires, towers, gloomy sky or destruction. The computer screen must be blank pale blue.

## ep1-v2-everyday.png

Use case: illustration-story.
Asset: bright photographic editorial collage environment for a longform magazine website about social media changing ordinary life.
Primary request: an exquisitely art-directed photomontage on a pale powder-blue paper background, with a gigantic but believable modern smartphone lying diagonally through the right half. Its screen is an abstract mirror reflecting a sunny blue sky and a small cloud, with NO interface. Around it, overlapping real photographic paper cutouts of everyday American life: a hand holding a coffee cup, a suburban garden, friends' hands meeting across a picnic table, a grocery bag and a potted plant. Thin looping blue charging cables connect the composition. A few blank yellow and pale pink sticky-note shapes and translucent blue plastic rectangles suggest many competing messages.
Mood: curious, lively, nuanced, emotionally recognisable; not scary, not doom. Beautiful daylight photography with sharp cutout edges, contact shadows, matte printed paper grain. Sophisticated culture magazine collage, offbeat but tasteful.
Composition: landscape 3:2, sculptural objects and photographs mainly on right half and lower quarter; upper-left half open powder-blue paper for LIVE black website chapter typography. Strong asymmetric composition, generous breathing room, different-scale objects. Natural sunlight falling from upper left, warm highlights.
Colors: powder blue, cobalt, butter yellow, a little rose pink, leafy greens. Stay luminous and open.
Constraints: no writing or words anywhere, no text on screens, no letters, numbers, logos, charts, graphs, watermarks. No huge ominous buildings, no flame orange, no black dystopia. This is a conceptual photographic collage, not a documentary record.

## ep1-v2-neighborhood.png

Use case: illustration-story.
Asset: luminous, thoughtful photographic editorial collage for a longform story about technology entering real towns.
Scene: on a warm pale butter-yellow paper field, a loosely assembled layered photographic panorama of a leafy American river town in midsummer sunshine. Modest houses with porches, a small public park, a clean blue river and a normal low modern data-center warehouse at the distant edge of town. The warehouse is ordinary real scale, part of the landscape, not monumental. A few electric wires cross the scene. Photographic cutouts include a clear drinking-water glass and blank folded paper representing a utility bill, delicately overlapping the panorama at the bottom. Blue sky, soft clouds, everyday life.
Composition: landscape 3:2. The photographic montage occupies the bottom half and right two thirds, with torn white edges, straight cropped photo edges, small strips of translucent cobalt tape, and beautifully subtle natural shadows. Top LEFT 40 percent remains empty warm yellow paper for live website typography. A curving blue river connects the pieces. Clear visual hierarchy, inviting daylight, human scale.
Style: clever premium culture-magazine photomontage, real daylight photography assembled on tactile paper, nuanced and contemporary. No illustration paint effect. Generous negative space.
Palette: butter yellow, azure and cobalt blue, fresh greens, clean warm white, warm brick accents. No dominant orange or black.
Constraints: no text, words, numerals, charts, logos, UI, watermark. No huge towers, catastrophe, decay, sunset, flames, dystopia. Not a depiction of an actual named city. It is a conceptual collage, not a documentary photograph.
